The Glenburn Rec Dept youth soccer program for children age 3 - 6th grade.
It's a great program with a lot of children participating, but not a lot of adults and the children need more of you to come forward and coach. If you love children, and the game of soccer, please consider signing up to coach when you register your child. If you don't have a child in the program but want to help with our youth programs, as a coach or official, simply email our director at recdirector@glenburn.net and ask for a coach/ref background application. We would love to have you join our small team of volunteers. It's a great way to stay young & involved with the community, and it can be very rewarding too!
REGISTRATION will be available from Aug 6-Aug 30, 2024 for all age groups. You can register online or by stopping at the town office during business hours.

Program setup;
2-6th grade groups practice 2 weeknights & games Saturday mornings. These groups will hopefully get some games with other towns this year, we have played Orono, Winterport, and Kenduskeag previously.
1st grade group has 1 weeknight practice & Game/scrimmage Saturdays
Prk-K only meet on Saturdays for 1 hour, 45 minutes of skill work by adapting little kids games to soccer skills (parents are required to participate) & 15 minutes of team soccer
Photo day will be set for all groups around the end of Sept.
JR Referees are also needed, we work with any 7th grader & older who have an interest in giving back to the program they grew up with. A great way for our teens to be mentors for our young ones, learn the aspects of a job even though it's volunteer - they need to be dependable - able to implement the game rules - responsible & caring. Any Jr Ref that works a program from start to finish will be issued a gift card based on the amount of time they put in, as a thank you for their time and a sense of accomplishment.
JR Ref training is set for Sept 4 at 6pm at the rec fields
Parent volunteers are needed for the following positions, if we have enough, for each team; head coach, asst coach, at least 1 referee & 1 concession worker, without coaches & referees teams can’t play or practice, and without concession volunteers we cannot quench your thirst, or provide you with a snack. It’s much easier on everybody’s busy schedules if there are 2-3 adults per team then if it’s just one person, plus the most important piece, is the children get more out of a season if there are multiple coaches than just one trying to work with a whole team, and the same goes for the concession stands. The more volunteers that come forward, the easier it is on everyone and the better we can serve you!
I hope you will seriously consider being one of those volunteers and step forward to lend a hand, it’s a great way to role model to your young athletes the importance of volunteering, being involved in community and help keep the programs growing strong. Volunteer & Background Applications are available at the town office and MUST be filled out & completed by Sept 1.. Once the applications are in and approved our director will setup training to help prepare you to work with groups of children. The children do appreciate any time you can give, and without you, they cannot play.
Volunteer Coach meeting will be held Sept 5 at 6pm at the field, anyone interested in coaching needs to make every effort to attend
