Cheering - Peewee & Competition squads
The Glenburn Rec Dept tries to offer a well-rounded program by exposing the cheerleaders to all aspects of cheering, from sideline cheers to competition routines. We will be offering the peewee squads for 2-6th graders, with the 2/3rd graders on one squad and cheer for the younger rec teams, and the 4-6th grade squad who will cheer for the 4-6th rec teams along with our competitive competition squad who only focuses on a routine for competitions - this squad does NOT cheer for any games. Being a member of the Glenburn Recreation Cheerleading Squad has many rewards’ and is a valuable experience. This program will teach these young athletes the basics of cheering as well as some advanced cheerleading techniques. This program is a great learning experience for cheerleaders wanting to continue on as a successful cheerleader at Jr. High School, high school and maybe even college. We are excited to offer these young athletes an opportunity to join a fast pace and exciting sport. Again welcome to Glenburn Rec Cheering. Comp Cheering registration will open Sept 25-Oct 11 at the town office, online link will be posted soon
This squad has to have 1 full practice per week, cheerleaders would have to be very committed to every practice as there is a routine to learn, if just one is missing it makes it very difficult to prepare & attend a competition. Cheerleaders for this squad would have to purchase team socks, sneakers, & possibly cheer hair. A notice will be given to cheering parents in regards to a meeting time for this discussion. The Comp Squad will be treated like travel basketball, you have to be participating on a rec or school squad to be able to register & tryout for the Comp Squad. It's competitive, an extra program for those who want more than just cheering at rec/school games. There will be a 3 strike rule, if you miss 3 practices you will be OFF the squad. Competition squad means dedication, you can't miss practice, stunts - dance - routines all count on every squad member Max of 16 members, there will be tryout on Monday Oct 21 from 6-8pm *If we have too many and make cuts - you will be reimbursed First practice Thursday Oct 24 from 6-8 Practices are Mandatory - unless you are ILL Normal practice slot starting the week of Nov 4 - Thursdays from 7:15-8:30pm Comp Squad registration online link; https://me.accessgov.com/glenburn-events/Forms/Page/me-glenburn-events/event-registration?eventId=3B6E7BEEA8
