REC "IN HOUSE" BASKETBALL PROGRAM 2025-26

Age 3 - 6th grade REGISTER Now THROUGH OCT 28

            Season runs Nov 8-February 7, 2026

Rec Bball program, is a program of equal opportunity, everyone makes a team, and equal play time for all players.  This is the program where the children really learn and hone in on the basic fundamentals and skills of the game of basketball, how to be a good teammate and good sports

Each season we have approximately 8-10 teams/groups participating on the Rec teams, with approx 150+ children.

Practice & Game times are all still tentative until we know how many players & how many teams we will have.   Typically 4-6th rec is Mon or Wed, 2/3 rec is Tues or Thur, with Age 3-1st grade on Saturday only.

Age 3 - 4/ Prek will start Dec 13 & 20 then back after winter vacation, Saturdays only, mornings from 8:30-9:30am, ending Feb 7

K/1st grade will start Nov 8 from 9-10am, starting Nov 15 time will be 9:30-10:30 for rest of season, which ends Feb 7

2-3rd Grade - is coed, at least 2 teams, games at home amongst each other

4th through 6th Grade – Plan is for 2 boys teams & 1 all girls team, if numbers support this, if not we will go back to coed.

There needs to be at least 8 girls in 4-6th, to have an all girls team.  This does have it's advantages & disadvantages though.  This format does allow the girls to practice & play together, get better as a whole, but they have to play the boys rec teams.  After last year playing other rec girls teams we found that playing games against our rec boys teams was a better learning experience, and better challenge to promote growth, each season is different.

We have done this in the past and it has worked well, even if it needs tweaking each season.  I am hearing the girls would rather have their own team so we will try to keep this going, but we NEED GIRLS to play.

**Must be pre-registered before attending any evaluations / tryouts / practices

We hope everyone will enjoy the upcoming season, as it is fun for me to watch all the children improve with smiles on their little faces.

At the end of the season, don't forget to fill out your coach evals, to let us know how all our volunteers did, these evals help us improve on what we are doing.  Thank you to all the volunteers, and hope to see all of you and more back next year.

Travel basketball

Travel basketball is for grades 3-8th, competitive program, must play rec or school ball to play travel, not just sign up and don't attend.  This only hurts the program and effects the children on the rec teams.  Please do what is right!  Coaches will be keeping attendance at the rec team practices & games - if you are constantly skipping rec - your child will be dropped from travel teams.

First round of games is set for the weekend of Nov 8-9th 2025 for 5-8th grade teams and Nov 15-16 weekend for 3/4th teams.  This league provides a 10game season for 5-8th grade divisions, and playoffs for the 3-4th grade levels have an 11-game season - no playoffs

Exact schedule will be posted once we get it

Player Eligibility requirements;

Must live in Glenburn / Kenduskeag, if you live in Glenburn you need to register & tryout in Glenburn, this is a league rule!  If we don't have enough players in a particular age group we will work with the league to find a team or players to fill our teams.
