Rec Bball program, is a program of equal opportunity, everyone makes a team, and equal play time for all players. This is the program where the children really learn and hone in on the basic fundamentals and skills of the game of basketball, how to be a good teammate and good sports

Each season we have approximately 8-10 teams/groups participating on the Rec teams, with approx 150+ children.

Practice & Game times are all still tentative until we know how many players & how many teams we will have. Typically 4-6th rec is Mon or Wed, 2/3 rec is Tues or Thur, with 1st grade Saturday only.

Age 3 - Kindergarten don't start until January and are Saturdays only - typically in the mornings from 8:30-9:30am

**Must be pre-registered before attending any evaluations / tryouts / practices

4th through 6^th Grade – Back to coed / unless we get more girls playing

IF we have at least 8 girls in 4-6th, we will have an all girls team. This does have it's advantages & disadvantages though. This format does allow the girls to practice & play together, get better as a whole, but they will be playing the boys teams. After last year playing other rec girls teams we found that playing games against our rec boys teams was a better learning experience, and better challenge to promote growth.

We have done this in the past and it has worked well, even if it needs tweaking each season. I am hearing the girls would rather have their own team so we will try to keep this going, but we NEED MORE GIRLS to play.

Evaluations FOR 2nd-6th; SATURDAY Nov 2

All 4-6^th boys Nov 2 from 9-10:15

All 4-6^th girls Nov 2 from 10:15-11:15

All 2/3rd players Nov 2 from 11:30-12:30

Final game will be FEB 8, 2025 with small awards ceremony

2/3^rd GRADE - Starting the week of Nov 4, 2024 / 1 practice per week - per team

PRACTICES; Tuesday or Thurs. 6:15-7:15pm

No games FEB 1, 2025 - typically the school B tournament

Final Play day for all Rec basketball & cheering groups is Feb 8, 2025

Little ceremonies will follow each of the age groups games.

We hope everyone will enjoy the upcoming season, as it is fun for me to watch all the children improve with smiles on their little faces.

At the end of the season, don't forget to fill out your coach evals, to let us know how all our volunteers did, these evals help us improve on what we are doing. Thank you to all the volunteers, and hope to see all of you and more back next year.

Travel basketball

Travel basketball is for grades 3-8th, competitive program, must play rec or school ball to play travel, not just sign up and don't attend. This only hurts the program and effects the children on the rec teams. Please do what is right!

We will be keeping attendance at the rec team activities - if you are skipping rec - you will risk your child being dropped from travel teams.

First round of games is set for the weekend of Nov 9th 2024 for 5-8th grade teams and Nov 16 weekend for 3/4th teams. This league provides a 10game season for all divisions, and playoffs for the 3-8th grade levels.

Player Eligibility requirements;

Must live in Glenburn / Kenduskeag, if you live in Glenburn you need to register & tryout in Glenburn, this is a league rule! If we don't have enough players in a particular age group we will work with the league to find a team or players to fill our teams.

Must be planning to play on a Glenburn Rec or school team. travel teams are a secondary, competitive program, season runs end of Oct - Mid March, with 3 post season tournaments.

TRYOUTS are MANDATORY, schedule below;

Monday Oct 21; 5-6th boys at 6pm

7-8^th grade boys at 7:15

Tues Oct 22; 3-4^th grade boys at 6pm

Thur Oct 24; 3-8^th grade girls at 6pm **NEED GIRLS!!**

First Practices & MANDATORY PARENTS MTG:

5/6^th Girls; First practice Mon, Oct 28 @ 6-7:15

7/8^th Boys; First practice; Mon, Oct 28 @ 7:15-8:30

3/4^TH BOYS: First practice Tues Oct 29 @ 6-7:15

5/6^th Boys: First practice; Tues, Oct 29 @ 7:15-8:30

3/4^th Girls; First practice; Oct 30 from 6-7:15

7/8^th Girls; First Practice; Oct 30 from 7:15-8:30

Regular practice schedule will be set once we know exactly how many teams we will have.

All Glenburn Travel teams are entered into post season tournaments, which are on the weekends starting Feb vacation through mid-March.

Travel basketball registration Fee: $75 for 3/4th and $100 for 5-8^th

GLENBURN REC ANNUAL YOUTH BASKETBALL TOURNAMENTS 2025!!!! Mark your calendars

3/4th & 5/6th grade boys & girls divisions, Feb-March 2025

Glenburn Rec annually hosts 4 youth basketball tournaments, starting the weekend of February vacation. These are for 3/4th and 5/6th grade teams both boys & girls tournaments. We can take up to 8 teams in every division and we have teams that come from all over ME from Caribou to Rumford and all places in between.

Please check under the tournament team tabs for more information on how to enter your team or be a volunteer. It takes a lot of people to keep these tournaments as successful as they are, if you like youth basketball it's a great way to be involved, see a lot of great youth basketball games and lend a hand at the same time.
